Dragons when upgrading from Angular 2.1.x to 2.4.x

The reason why I decided to upgrade to 2.4.x was simple enough. In the learning curve of Angular2 router features, I ran into a bug that left my head scratching. Trying to render a routerLink would not create the necessary href url.
